Weather experts say a wave of high pressure promises to send the mercury rising across Derbyshire after endless weeks of terrible conditions.

According to the Met Office, temperatures look set to reach up to 12C on Saturday and Sunday – above average conditions for this time of year.

Met Office spokesman Nicky Maxey said: “It’ll feel quite warm and spring-like.”

High pressure is again expected to dominate through next week leaving largely settled conditions.

This winter, the UK has experienced some of the wettest and stormiest weather ever recorded.

Twelve major storms have battered the country over the last three months.

Spring officially begins on March 20.
